It's been riding high in fashion for some time now, so of course the colour butter yellow was due to hit weddings hard this summer. We've been seeing this creamy optimistic shade seeping down from wedding moodboards to real weddings all year so far, and definitely looks like it's not just a passing phase either. This season, whether it's bridesmaids in matching buttery silk gowns or creamy yellow roses as table centrepieces, sunny ribbons on the back of chairs or incorporated into cakes, bouquets or in arrangements down the aisle and for other wedding decor, this warming shade is definitely the colour of the season.

A gelato shade that sits somewhere between beige and lemon, not only does it work well when paired particularly with blues and greens, it also looks great as an elevated neutral when mixed with stronger yellow hues.

From the flowers to the bridesmaids dresses to the flower girls' sashes to the table settings, there is so much incorporation of this gorgeous buttery subtle shade throughout the wedding of Lily and Phil at Kilruddery House in Wicklow we don't know where to start with ideas for inspiration. We love how they have added just a few yellow flowers on to their cake too and included yellow dahlias into their table settings and also into the bridal bouquets to give a "wildflower and wild garden" feel. "We wanted it to feel natural, warm and fun but also thoughtfully put together," says Lily. "Visually, we were drawn to a sense of timeless elegance with plenty of colour. Something that felt vibrant and full of life, but still classic and refined." Let's just say that brief was nailed!

Next is the wedding of American couple Michelle and Alex at Castle Leslie in Monaghan where butter yellow - along other stronger shades of yellow and pastels - are used liberally throughout the all of the decor on the day, from the mix and match bridesmaids dresses to the tablesettings, but particularly when it came to the flowers. Yellow is this couple’s “happy colour” and the joy-inducing shade featured prominently in their loose and elegant displays which were curated for them Yesca's Flowers. "It was important to us to incorporate lush Irish blooms and greenery native to the area, so our amazing florist actually foraged and harvested around her home and gardens and incorporated it into our flowers," says Michelle. It all looks stunning and we love it!

At the high summer wedding of Michelle and Alex in Castle Durrow in Laois, there are so many more butter yellow ideas to steal. Not only did the bride choose pale buttercream yellow asos dresses for her bridesmaids (as it is her favourite colour), her engagement ring also had a yellow diamond. Too sweet! The flower girls, in puff-sleeve dresses, carried bouquets with lilies, roses and pops of yellow. The bride and her bridesmaids also carried calla lily bouquets (this single stem flower trend is really on the rise!) and the couple's sleek wedding cake was adorned with pressed wildflowers including buttercups. A lot of sunny wedding ideas right there to steal!

One Fab Day The Centrepieces

Meanwhile buttery yellow and creamy whites formed the whole basis of the colour palette and styling at the early spring wedding of Niamh and Rob at Tankardstown House. The couple didn’t have a specific theme for their wedding but flowers played a key part in the overall aesthetic.The meadow-like floral displays were created by The Wild Bunch and included forsythia, daisies, camellia, and paperwhite narcissus. The overall effect was delicate yet vivid, serene yet sprightly. The styling of the tablescape included minimalistic hand-drawn signage, dark olive velvet bows wrapped around the stems of wine glasses and candles in eggshell taupe. "We wanted to reflect the time of the year and also keep things simple, elegant and a little fun," says Niamh. We are obsessed.

A sunny Portugese celebration calls for a sunsoaked look and we are thoroughly here for the vibrant yellows that Cork couple Ash and Dave went for for their destination wedding weekend. Less butter yellow and more sunshine yellow, the bride's bouquet featured light yellow gerbera and greenery while bridesmaids - dressed in bright yellow skirts from And Other Stories - carried sunflowers. The couple's tables were dressed with floral centrepieces, multicoloured glassware and dreamy, sunflower-themed stationery while the bride and her maids mode of transport to the ceremony was a bright yellow Tuk Tuks. So cool!
