I have just applied an Ai preset to a raw file and now I am stuck on this screen and cannot get back to the develop module and related tools. If I close the app and reopen it it is still the same. What is more weird is that now I cannot get back to the main deveop screen on any image. All images open in this screen! Using M4 iMac. with 16 gig.

What happens if you tap the spacebar or use a keyboard shortcut, such as G to go back to Grid view.

Also .. what happens if you cycle thru the various full screen modes... I think by hitting the F key a few times.

I have tried rebooting the iMac and that does not help, Looks like LrC has some sort of corruption.

I can get back to grid view but when I click on a thumbnail and then Develop I get back to that screen...and that is on any image not just the one I used the preset on!!

Maybe a full uninstall/reinstall is in order. or is there a way to reset everything?

Cycling through the screens does not help - it is just like all the develop tools have gone missing!

I would wait a little while and see what other suggestions arise.

Rather than reset / reinstall... try creating a new test catalog, import a few test images, check that everything is working.. then reopen your current catalog (ie use the 'open recent ' option).

If the problem still persists then it is a strange scenario.. and you may get a few suggestions such as to reset preferences , etc. This may help identify if it is a catalog specific issue or general to LrC.

I reset the preferences and all is now good. Must check if it has moved the catalogue back to the default

Good that the issue has been solved, but I’m still puzzled what the issue was in the first place. The screenshot you showed is the left panel of the Develop module! So when you said “I am stuck on this screen and cannot get back to the develop module and related tools”, then my answer would have been “that’s because you are already in that module”. That is why you should always show a screenshot of your entire screen, not just a small part of it. A full screenshot might have shown that there really was an issue.

Strange behaviour. If you store your presets with the catalog ( an option) then make sure to set that option correctly, else you may have problems finding presets and plugins. I reset my preferences (twice.. lost all my presets and plugins.. twice) before an expert here reminded me to set this option back the way I had it. Not relevant if you just keep presets at the application rather than catalog level.

The preset panel in the screenshot is simply collapsed…

The Develop tools just were not showing up - it really was weird. There was obviously some corruption but how it occurred escapes me. All good now
:)

So why did you post a screenshot that does not include the area where those tools should be...?

Ummmm, let me think now . Ah yes, because I failed to screen shot the entire screen. Sorry if that offends you but that is how it is.

It would have been more helpful if instead of showing the Left Panel, you showed the Right panel (Which is where you are saying the problem was occurring. ).

cannot get back to the develop module and related tools

Your screen shot was of the Develop module Left Panel. The related tools is located in the Right panel. The screen shot of the left panel gives us no information about your issue.

It doesn’t offend me at all, but I just wondered why you did not realise that illustrating a problem with a screenshot that does not show the problem might put people on the wrong track. I thought you meant there was something wrong with the left panel in your opinion.
By the way: did you know you can hide both or one of the panels? Maybe that’s all you did, so we could have told you how to get it back, without having to reset the preferences.

Don't mind Johan, he is a good guy and knows his stuff. He is a straight talker and that sometimes can come across as abrupt. But he is like that with everyone, arn't you Johan ?

I think this has been gone over before . There is little need for me to clarify again is there!!

Thanks Mark. There is a fine line though and there are one or two people who cross it from time to time. It may well be unintentional.
