Board of Regents appoint new interim chancellor for CSCU

Дата публикации: 26-05-2026 18:28:10

The Board of Regents announced an interim chancellor for Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) on Tuesday.
The board appointed Natalie Braswell, who previously served as State Comptroller, and currently serves as General Counsel to Gov. Ned Lamont. Braswell will be in this role for a year while CSCU holds a national search for a permanent leader this coming fall.
The post became vacant after former interim Chancellor O. John Maduko abruptly resigned in April amid a sexual harassment investigation, according to documents.
Prior to joining the governor’s office, Braswell served as Connecticut’s State Comptroller, after being appointed to the role following the resignation of former Comptroller Kevin Lembo due to a serious medical condition. She also served as Chief of Planning, Legal, and Regulatory Affairs at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).
Lamont said Braswell would provide “steady leadership” as well as sound judgment in the role.
“[…]I know she is exactly the right person to help CSCU turn the page and continue focusing on what matters most: delivering opportunity and success for our students,” Lamont said in a statement.
Interim chair of the Board of Regents, Air Santiago, said the board is “confident” Braswell will provide the right leadership as they move ahead with the search for a permanent chancellor.
Santiago was also recently selected to serve as interim chair of the Board of Regents after former chair Marty Guay resigned this month. His resignation came three days after the board’s release of documents regarding the investigation of Maduko.
“Natalie brings a pragmatic, action-oriented approach and a proven ability to take on complex challenges during times of transition. She has earned the reputation as someone who steps into high-pressure situations, builds trust, and keeps institutions moving forward,” said Santiago.
