U.S. Senator Katie Britt had much to say about Alabama Crimson Tide football in a Wednesday morning interview on “The Dale Jackson Show.”

Britt (R-Montgomery), who stood in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump and the rest of Alabama’s congressional Republicans on Tuesday as Trump announced that Space Command headquarters will be permanently located in Huntsville, took the opportunity to express her dissatisfaction with the Tide’s Saturday performance in Tallahassee.

Trump mentioned the 31-17 fall to Florida State in passing during the Space Command announcement, saying, “I won’t say anything about what happened with Alabama football this weekend. But you’re not used to that, right?”

“Obviously, the President had a lot of material to work with after the poor performance that we saw on Saturday,” Britt said in the Wednesday interview.

“So when he started talking about that, I said, ‘Oh, no, no. Let’s not go there.’ Because clearly this is uncharted territory for many of us, at least in recent memory.”

Britt noted that several of her Senate colleagues have teased her about the embarrassing performance.

“I saw JD Vance yesterday. JD got in a little spar. So the trolling is in full effect for sure, and I haven’t even had an opportunity to see anybody. I mean, even people from North Dakota. John Hoeven got in a little barb. I mean, everybody is coming for me right now, so I’m going to need the Tide to man up and to come out and to show some grit.”

Many Alabama fans are wary of the season ahead, with the Tide set to face off against Georgia, South Carolina, and LSU in the coming months.

“We know that there’s a lot of talent. There’s clearly incredible tradition and history at the University of Alabama. I need them to feel that and to show us on the field that they understand who they’re playing for and what it means to play for the Crimson Tide. Because I believe in these guys. I believe they have the talent. I believe they have the ability to dominate. Now I need them to believe that, and I think they need to show us that they believe that that’s worth fighting for.”

The Tide will face the University of Louisiana Monroe at home in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
