The Ole Miss Rebels are going to be one of the stories of college football season in the SEC after the dramatic exit of Lane Kiffin to LSU and subsequent hiring of former Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding as the new head coach.

After nearly making a run all the way to the national title game under Golding and star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, the Rebels should be contending for a spot in the playoff once again after Chambliss was able to secure another year of eligibility.

Interestingly though, Chambliss has revealed the biggest difference between Kiffin and Golding, and it sounded pretty eye-opening on the surface.

Trinidad Chambliss on the difference between Pete Golding and Lane Kiffin:

“I’d say he’s more of a team guy. We really value his leadership, whatever he says… He leads by his actions and we really appreciate that.” pic.twitter.com/gz2ISozxqi

“I would say the personalities are a little different than our old coach and Coach Golding,” Chambliss said when asked about changes he has seen within the program since the coaching transition. “I’d say he’s more of a team guy. We really value his leadership, whatever he says, he’s gonna show you faster than I can tell you. He leads by his actions and we really appreciate that.”

Whether Chambliss meant this as a direct shot at Kiffin or not cannot be known, but it’s safe to say Golding runs a program very differently from the way his predecessor and former boss did.

Kiffin will return to Oxford on September 19 for what will be one of the most anticipated SEC matchups in recent memory between his Tigers and Golding’s new Ole Miss program.
