Nicole Kidman just shared how she's faring after filing for divorce from Keith Urban. The 58-year-old Baby Girl actress interviewed Ariana Grande for Interview magazine, but the conversation started with the 32-year-old pop star asking the vet, 'How are you?' Nicole seemed to hint at her emotional state after she and her husband of 19 years, Keith, 58, split earlier this year. 'I’m hanging in there,' the silver screen siren answered. In the conversation, published on Monday, she also recalled feeling 'safe' and 'protected' while filming the Practical Magic sequel before news of the breakup was made public. 

'Sandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie [Williams] — we had an incredible cast,' Nicole commented about the upcoming movie, noting that working on projects can sometimes be emotionally draining. She added, 'But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved. It was just very, very safe.' She also marveled at being able to work with Sandra on the Practical Magic follow-up nearly three decades later. 'To come back to something so many years later and go, "We’re still able to get this movie made at a big big studio like Warner’s," and that Sandy and I were able to produce it and get it made, is insane,' the Big Little Lies star reflected.

Nicole and Keith's breakup shocked fans this fall. And the Oscar-winning actress had reportedly been dreading the public's response for months prior. 'She's been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading it,' a source told People in early October. 'But she's surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it's out she's just focused on what's ahead and her girls,' the insider said of the couple's daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.

The actress and musician's separation was confirmed by Daily Mail on September 29, and Nicole filed for divorce on September 30, citing irreconcilable differences. Their marriage began to fall apart at the beginning of summer 2025. The split was reportedly a long-term development, stemming from months of quiet separation and diverging paths due to work commitments, according to Daily Mail sources.

Nicole has requested to be the primary residential parent in the custody arrangement. The pair met at the G'Day LA gala ball in January 2005. In a 2013 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Nicole confessed it wasn't until four months after they met that Keith asked her out. She recalled: 'I'm like, "You didn't love me at first sight, you didn't notice me," and he's like, "Yes I did but I just didn't let on," but we kind of met and then about four months later he called me.'

On the Australian talk show Interview in 2018, Keith admitted he had to muster the confidence to call the movie star. 'I'd never have thought she'd see anything in a guy like me. But at some point I plucked up the courage to call those numbers, and she answered,' he said. 'We started talking, and we talked and talked and talked and talked, and it was effortless,' the singer added.
