Our choice for Hamilton County Mayor has never been so stark.

Having lived here for 38 years, I’ve experienced many Hamilton County Mayor campaigns. Most were real “yawners”, mainly because we have been blessed with excellent candidates for the office.

That has all changed.

This time our choice for County Mayor is between a guy born with a silver spoon in his mouth and a poor soul who had to pawn his.

To pay his light bill.

If I had the choice of who to have a beer with, I would rather go thirsty.

But you have to respect Mark Herndon.

He has been through so many trials and tribulations, I expect him to become the reincarnation of St.

Paul. Every day we are reminded of his shortcomings. Every day Mark Herndon is knocking on doors.

I respect his resilience.

When confronted about his misfortunes by the press, he does something crazy. He accepts responsibility and promises to do better.

I respect his humility.

Mark Herndon is a champion for “the least of these”, after all, he is one. He has a servant heart and will be a servant leader.

I respect his humanity.

Our other choice for County Mayor? Not so much.

I agree Mayor Wamp is leaving our county “better than when he found it.”

But for who?
