The report, published in July, highlighted that children settle in 'extremely well'
A Cambridgeshire nursery where children "engage deeply in highly tailored learning experiences", has been praised by Ofsted in its latest inspection. Beach Babies nursery in Wilburton catered to children aged between one and four at the time of the inspection, according to the education watchdog.
Beach Babies was founded in 2001 by Tracy Hutchison and operates two nurseries between Cambridge and Ely — in Landbeach and Wilburton. In its latest report, Ofsted judged the nursery on Stretham Road, as at a 'strong standard' in all six areas assessed.
These areas include: achievement, behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines, children's welfare and wellbeing, curriculum and teaching, inclusion and leadership and governance.
The report, published on July 9, said that all children make "rapid progress" with their physical skills. Leaders have designed a "bespoke curriculum", according to Ofsted, and staff "meticulously plan learning opportunities".
Inspectors highlighted that children settle "extremely well" because staff use a "highly personalised and sensitive settling-in process".
Manager Carolyn Evans said: “I am incredibly proud of our exceptional team. Each member of staff plays a vital role in shaping the warm, nurturing environment that defines who we are.”
Manager Isabelle Pettifer, added: "This recognition reflects not only our staff's commitment but also the support of our children and families. Together, they’ve helped us become the amazing setting we are so proud of.”
Inspectors praised staff, who are "excellent role models" for having "high expectations for children's behaviour" and treating children with the "utmost respect", which means that children "behave extremely well".
The report emphasised how "children engage deeply in highly tailored learning experiences". It added: "For example, they extend their understanding of weddings by planning and staging their own celebration. They choose clothing and music as well as discussing their experiences. Children's views are actively sought and valued."
Leaders put children's wellbeing "at the centre of all decisions" and continually review and update policies and practice to ensure children's welfare is promoted.
Tracy Hutchison, the owner, said: “I am so pleased that the hard work by the whole team has again been recognised as delivering childcare and early years education at the highest level.
"When I started Beach Babies, my vision was to nurture confidence, inquisitiveness, and resilience in a generation of children and it's incredibly rewarding to now see some of those children growing into confident young adults.”
In its next steps, Ofsted asked leaders to ensure "continued improvement in the setting's successful work to remove barriers for children from disadvantaged backgrounds to realise a transformational impact on all children's achievement and wellbeing".
