New Threads Theatre Company announces their upcoming theatre production, "My Name is Søren Kierkegaard," by Timothy Andrew McInstosh, taking place at the UTC Fine Arts Center this July. 

"We are a new theatre company who recently launched in the area, and Kierkegaard will be our first full production," officials said. "Kierkegaard explores timely themes of spirituality, identity and moral courage through the life and thought of Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, and we believe it will be of strong interest as part of Chattanooga’s arts, culture and ideas landscape."

The production will take place at The Lewis Theatre (UTC Fine Arts Center), 752 Vine St.

in Chattanooga.

Performance schedule:

- Thursday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.;
- Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m.;
- Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and
- Sunday, July 26 at 2 p.m.

Running Time: 80 minutes

Optional audience talkbacks follow each performance. Recommended age is 12 and up.

In this gripping new work, Søren Kierkegaard confronts himself - half prophet in search of revolution, half pilgrim in search of holiness. Set in 1847 Copenhagen, the play explores identity, faith, love and rebellion as Kierkegaard wrestles with rising nationalism in the Danish church and the personal cost of speaking truth.

Raw, intimate and thought-provoking, this production offers audiences a dramatic encounter with one of history’s most influential thinkers.
