Celtic is circling back on a deal for Danish striker Kasper Hogh, the Bodo/Glimt forward who spent the winter making Champions League defenders look ordinary. The Scottish club tried to land the 25-year-old in January but walked away when the Norwegian side bumped the price tag. Now, with summer approaching and Celtic’s squad in need of reinforcements, the pursuit is back on.

From £7 million to £10 million, and counting

Celtic’s January pursuit of Hogh fell apart over money. Bodo/Glimt initially valued the forward at around £7 million, but as Hogh kept finding the net in Europe’s premier club competition, that figure climbed to £10 million.

Hogh scored in pivotal Champions League matches against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan, helping Bodo/Glimt advance to the last 16. Celtic opted not to meet the revised valuation in January.

Celtic reportedly leading the race

According to renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Celtic is currently leading the race to sign Hogh as of May 2026. Norwich City remains a potential rival. The English Championship side submitted a bid for Hogh in January that was rejected, and their interest hasn’t evaporated. Hearts FC is also reportedly monitoring the situation.

Why Celtic needs this deal

Celtic faces a significant summer rebuild, with various players expected to depart, including loanees returning to parent clubs and individuals whose contracts have expired. At 25, Hogh is entering his prime years, with Champions League goals against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan representing genuine and recent pedigree.

The January precedent is instructive. Bodo/Glimt raised their price once and Celtic blinked. If the Norwegian club pushes beyond £10 million this summer, citing increased competition from Norwich and others, Celtic will face the same calculus again.
