Facebook appears to have come back online.

There may be some users with residual issues, but it appears the outage has resolved for now

Meta have still not released a public statement about the outage.

We still have no timeframe as to when services will begin to return to normal

One said: "Why is instagram down right now"

A second said: "nothing unites humanity faster than Instagram going down."

And another said: "Instagram is down and here I am blaming my Wi-Fi, restarting my router, turning airplane mode on and off… just to find out it’s not me. My internet deserves an apology."

The problems with Facebook are not just in the UK, with many people from across the world reportings issues.

One person said: "Facebook appears to be down in parts of Australia."

Another said: "Facebook down in Greece."

And a third said: "Facebook down in France."

The issues with Facebook appear to be affecting the website but not the mobile app.

People with the app on their phone are still able to access the social media network.

The problem appears to be with the website on desktop and mobile devices.

This is the message that people trying to get onto Facebook are getting.

Facebook is down for thousands of users

Facebook and Instagram have been down for almost an hour now.

Meta have not yet released a statement about the outage and it is not known how long the sites will be down for.

Since the Facebook and Instagram outage Downdetector has had over 5,000 reports from users.

The spike of reports from users unable to access the services came at 8:50am with 5,200 people reporting issues

One user said: "Oh no. Facebook is down."

Another said: "Looks like Facebook is down worldwide. Who else having the same issue?"

A third said: "You're not alone, Facebook is down."

And a fourth said: "Noooooo! Facebook is down?"

Many people are reporting issues with Instagram as well.

The issues with Instagram - which is owned by Meta who also own Facebook - appear to have started shortly after the Facebook issues at 8:45am

Down detector has had over 1,000 reports of Instagram being down by 9am

Thousands of users are unable to access the social media platform this morning.

When people try to log onto their accounts it reads: "Account Temporarily Unavailable.

"Your account is currently unavailable due to a site issue. We expect this to be resolved shortly. Please try again in a few minutes."
