Ahmed Jama was murdered in Islington on Friday 10, July
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Islington.
Police were called to Hungerford Road, Islington, at 04:00hrs on Friday, 10 July, following reports of an assault.
Officers attended the scene where a man, aged 50, was found with serious head injuries. He has since been named as Ahmed Jama, from Camden.
Ahmed was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead on Wednesday 15, July.
His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
On Sunday 12, July officers arrested two women, aged 18 and 19, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. They have since been bailed while enquiries continue.
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the area, said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with Ahmed's family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time.
“As enquiries continue, local residents can expect to see a continued police presence in the area over the coming days.
“I would ask anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact us."
