He was arrested in south Brooklyn and charged with three counts each of rape and sexual misconduct, two counts of course of sexual conduct against a child, and a single count of acting in a manner injurious to a child, police said.

Lawyers for Acosta proclaimed his innocence to The Post.

“Our office is already in possession of evidence which points to our client’s innocence. These allegations are undoubtedly serious but, more importantly, they are demonstrably false. It is deeply unfortunate that Officer Acosta, who has an unblemished record, would have his reputation smeared by fabricated allegations. We look forward to clearing his name expeditiously,” Jason Goldman and David Gelfand said in a written statement.

Acosta – who is assigned to a unit that works with cops facing lawsuits related to their actions on the job, according to online department records – has since been suspended without pay, cops said.

He joined the department in 2014, the records show.

The case was initially investigated by the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau and referred to the Brooklyn DA’s office, the sources said.

Acosta’s arraignment was pending Thursday afternoon, prosecutors said.
