Love Island favourite Lorenzo Alessi was on the verge of tears as he evicted two of his ITV co-stars
Two Love Island stars have been forced to leave the villa just weeks before the awaited 2026 final.
ITV viewers were left on a brutal cliff-hanger on Friday (July 10) as the villa discovered that one couple would be getting dumped, with Julia and Lorenzo given the power to decide.
It came after a public vote crowned the Lorenzo and Julia as the villa's favourite couple, but their victory came with a difficult decision.
They were tasked with evicting either Samraj and Mica, Lola and Sean, or Martha and Jordon, who had received the least support during the public vote.
Jasmine received a text at the start of Sunday's (July 12) episode, which instructed the pair to head for a private conversation to decide which couple’s journey would come to an end.
Before they could even make a decision, Sean and Lola volunteered to sacrifice themselves so the other couples could stay. They argued that they have already found what they were looking for, while the other Islanders are still trying to find romance.
After much speculation, Julia and Lorenzo returned to the garden to deliver the bad news.
Before biting the bullet, Lorenzo confessed: "It’s a horrible feeling having to stand here and end somebody’s journey."
Lorenzo and Julia ultimately chose to honour their wishes and dumped Lola and Sean.
The whole villa was left visibly emotional, with Lorenzo and Yasmin reduced to tears as they said goodbye to their close friends.
The decision was especially difficult for Lorenzo because he has been in the villa since day one and has built strong bonds with Samraj and Sean. Whereas, Julia owed her loyalty to fellow Casa Amor girl Martha.
On the other hand, viewers at home are thrilled with the latest eviction. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan said: "Sean and Lola out. good riddance."
A second viewer agreed: "LET'S GO it I'm so glad they left." While a third chimed in with: "This is not even sad... wrap it up!"
But others rushed in to defend the duo, with one writing: "Omg twitter is nastyyy they couldn't even volunteer without being slated!!! DEAR LORD PEOPLE find some joy in ur lives #loveislanduk"
The duo were once pegged to win but lost public favour after Casa Amor. Fans turned on Lola when she confronted Julia about pursuing her partner Sean, despite knowing he was in a stable couple.
Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
