Jurgen Klopp gave a terse response when asked about his heated touchline exchange with Mo Salah during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with West Ham.

He dropped Salah for the pivotal visit to London and the Egyptian striker was fuming at the decision, with the two then seen involved in a sideline spat.

And Salah issued an alarming warning to reporters after the game: 'If I speak, there will be fire!'

When Klopp was bringing him on after 79 minutes, Salah responded by waving his arms about pointing to the pitch and then pointing at a retreating Klopp.

The striker continued to berate the departing Liverpool manager and only stopped his show of discontent when striker Darwin Nunez intervened.

Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp became locked in a heated dugout argument as the Liverpool star prepared to come on against West Ham

It was bad PR for the final weeks of Klopp's tenure at Liverpool and left fans confused about the breakdown in relations with Salah, even if only brief.

Asked if he would share what was said on TNT Sports, Klopp replied: 'No. But we spoke already in the dressing room and for me that's done.'

Clearly, he was unwilling to shed light on what had happened.

He was also reluctant to engage in any talk about Liverpool's title chances.

'I'm not in the mood to talk about that to be honest or to look at that at all,' he said.

'We had to win here, we knew that, we didn't and now we have a little bit more time between the next game to try to get the boys ready again.'

Klopp had not only dropped Salah for the encounter, but also Nunez.

Between them, the two forwards had mustered three goals in Liverpool's previous seven Premier League outings.

But once again, Liverpool's wastefulness in front of goal haunted them. Despite having 28 shots, they managed just two goals via Andy Robertson and a bizarre West Ham own goal which was eventually credited to Alphonse Areola.

'If I speak, there will be fire,' Salah told reporters after the game in a worrying response

Klopp added: 'Very disappointed obviously. There was only the prospect of one team winning the game with the chances that we created, possession we had and all the things we did. It's a tough one at the end of a really tough 10 day, four-game period.

'I thought the boys did really well, we just conceded out of nothing. We needed a few more chances, we had two scrappy goals to score twice but at 2-1 up we could control it.

'In a lot of moments we played really well but in the final moments we didn't take it the right way and that's been the story of the last four weeks and that's why we drew.'
