Mallappa Konda in Gudupalle mandal of Kuppam region is located at the tri-State junction of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The picturesque hill is home to the 500-year-old Lord Malleswara Swamy temple, which draws thousands of devotees from across the three states, with crowds peaking during the Maha Shivaratri and Karthika month festivities. Its sunrise and sunset views have made it a popular weekend destination for visitors, mostly from Bengaluru and Kolar. A newly laid serpentine ghat road culminates at the summit. A highlight of the hill is that one can stand in both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, with two legs apart.
The 28-generation rule by zameendarsKangundi, near Kuppam in Chittoor district, is steeped in history with fascinating natural beauty. This 11th-century hillock fort was ruled by the Kangundi Zameendars for 28 generations, from 1066 to 1950, overseeing nearly 360 villages. Located on the Kuppam–Vijalapuram route, the site is a repository of ancient caves and wonderful granite formations. The place draws huge devotees during Maha Shivratri. It has also emerged as an adventure destination, with rock climbing and bouldering events adding to its appeal.
Annual festivities at Betrayaswamy KondaBetrayaswamy Konda, around 9 km from Kuppam in Chittoor district, is a hill shrine, with Sri Betarayaswamy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, as the presiding deity. Located near the Maarapalli area and surrounded by thick forests, the temple is visited by thousands of devotees from across Kuppam, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka during the annual festivities. Elevated terrain and scenic surroundings also lure trekkers, hikers, and photographers, particularly in rainy and winter seasons.
Last-mile connectivity to Moghili RevuMoghili Revu in Chittoor district is a scenic nature spot known for its forested surroundings, green canopy, and tranquil atmosphere for visitors. The waterfalls offer a refreshing break for nature lovers, with a seasonal rush from neighboring Karnataka. The picnic spot is well connected by APSRTC buses from Kuppam and Palamaner. Nearby Moghili village is home to the ancient Sri Swayambhu Mogileeswara Swamy Temple, a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, belonging to the 11th century.
Waterfalls nestled amid the forestChelimichenu Waterfalls, also known as Friendly Field Waterfalls, is a lesser-known picnic spot in Ramakuppam mandal of the Kuppam region bordering Tamil Nadu. The falls are at their best during the monsoon. Visitors throng for a trek through the forested slopes. The Forest Department guides will be available as the trail can be slippery in the rainy season, followed by caution about the presence of wild elephants in the surrounding Koundinya wildlife sanctuary.
