In preparation for the upcoming Partnership Summit scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam this November, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg has directed municipal officials to initiate a comprehensive beautification drive along the iconic RK Beach Road.

The Commissioner, along with Chief Engineer P.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju, Chief City Planner A. Prabhakar Rao, and Deputy Director of Horticulture Vasuki, conducted a field inspection of the East Zone on Monday to oversee the planning process.

Enhancing aesthetic appeal

Emphasising the importance of the summit, which is expected to host prominent dignitaries, investors, and international delegates, Mr. Garg instructed all departments to work in close coordination. The objective is to transform the coastline into a clean, pleasant, and aesthetically appealing destination that reflects the city’s prestige.

The Commissioner issued a series of specific directives to ensure the area meets international standards:

Officials have been tasked with inspecting dustbins along Beach Road, repairing damaged units, and installing additional bins where necessary.

The Chief Engineer was ordered to undertake immediate repairs of footpaths and restore damaged grills on central medians with fresh coats of paint.

To enhance the visual appeal of the shoreline at night, authorities will install decorative lighting and additional streetlights at strategic locations.

The Chief City Planner was directed to clear all unauthorized roadside stalls, kiosks, and other obstructions on footpaths to ensure safe passage for both residents and tourists.

Strengthening Urban Greening

To ensure consistent maintenance, Mr. Garg ordered the horticulture contract staff to report for duty by 7:30 a.m. daily. He also directed the Deputy Director of Horticulture to ensure all departmental vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking systems and to regularly monitor the quality of materials being utilised by contractors for plantation works.
