Operated under the Joint Surveillance System, the radar is maintained by the United States Air Force and Federal Aviation Administration. It is used for air traffic control. Unlike smaller, faster-spinning airport radars, this slowly rotating station has a range of a couple hundred miles, with feeds going to Lambert International Airport and the Kansas City Air Route Traffic Control Center in Olathe, KS.
