No delay to iPhone Ultra (render shown), says supply-chain report

More supply chain sources have rejected claims of delays to iPhone Ultra production, reporting that it appears to be on track for a September release.

However, the latest report doesn’t rule out limited initial supplies of Apple’s most expensive ever iPhone …

Earlier reports had suggested that the iPhone Ultra launch might be very delayed, perhaps even into early next year. Those appear to have been mistaken, however, as there’s now a clear consensus that any delay in the upcoming premium model going on sale will be a short one.

Another supply chain source backs this, citing a number of Chinese suppliers reporting that their work on the foldable iPhone is proceeding to schedule for a September launch. Cailian News Agency reports.

There were rumors in the market in early July that the release of the Apple foldable had been postponed, caused by well-known analysts’ prediction that production capacity limitations would see shipments of only 500,000 to 1 million units in the early third quarter.

However, on July 8, the reporter of Cailian News Agency asked a number of Apple supply chain enterprises for confirmation. People in the industry chain responded that the design and production of the folding phone had entered peak production. They said that there was no change in the delivery time date in September, denying rumors of product postponement.

Sources were quoted as saying they hadn’t heard of any delay and that September delivery would be “no problem.”

None of this is to say that the uber-expensive folding iPhone won’t be in short supply. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that initial supply may not meet early demand, leading to shipping times of four to six weeks or more.

While customers will no doubt be impatient if this does prove to be the case, I’ve argued that it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing from Apple’s perspective.
