Netflix is expanding its relationship with hit YouTube creator Alan Chikin Chow, bringing his Alan’s Universe videos to the platform. Under the collaboration, members globally can watch new episodes dropping day-and-date with YouTube, alongside a library of Alan’s Universe episodes.

Described as a cross between a classic Disney Channel sitcom and the hit K-drama Boys Over Flowers, Alan’s Universe is a high school scripted anthology series about love, friendship, and becoming the best version of yourself.

In each episode, Alan and his friends face a set of fantastical obstacles in a new universe — whether it’s high school bullies, hiding their pop star identities, or battling handsome vampires — and often find that love is the true answer to life’s struggles.

In January, it was announced that Chow was behind a new as-yet untitled scripted series for Netflix set in the world of K-Pop, in partnership with Hybe America, the U.S. arm of the Korean entertainment company responsible for BTS.

The collaboration with Chow marks the latest example of Netflix aggressively targeting successful YouTubers as it takes on the Google-owned service. Over the past year, Netflix has started working with Ms. Rachel, Mark Rober and The Sidemen, who all broke out on YouTube.

Chow is the most-watched YouTube Shorts creator, averaging between 1B to 1.5B+ views per month for his content. As previously described by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, Chow is “rewriting the rules and shaping the future of entertainment,” serving as “a powerful symbol of the broader shift happening in the industry.”

Alan’s Universe is produced by Moris Zingman and Laith Souqi, with Jungyoon Kim serving as Chief Operating Officer. Stepan Laptev and Leonid Maslakov serve as Creative Directors. Chelsea Sik stars in the series alongside Alan.

Peter White contributed to this report.
