From a historic rowing club perched on the banks of the River Thames to one of the world's glitziest Grand Prix courses
On 3 July 2026, pop star Taylor Swift tied the knot with football player Travis Kelce at New York's Madison Square Garden. Perhaps the most famous multi-use indoor arena in the world, it plays host not only to gigs (Harry Styles is bringing his ‘Together, Together’ tour here later this year) but is also the home to the New York Knicks (basketball) and New York Rangers (hockey).

And while ‘The Garden’ as it’s known colloquially isn’t necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing of sporting venues to tie the knot in, there are plenty more around the world that do tick that box.

The London Rowing Club
Tom Cawdron/The London Rowing ClubSituated in Putney on the banks of the River Thames, The London Rowing Club is steeped in history. Built in 1870, the Victorian boathouse has not only welcomed World and Olympic champion rowers (and royalty – Prince Philip and Princess Anne have been patrons) but has also helped countless couples celebrate their union. Weddings typically take place in the Long Room, which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony overlooking the river, with guests also able to have drinks in the Fairbairn Room if the room needs transforming from ceremony to reception. Unsurprisingly, there are some amazing photo opportunities here, with the River Thames as the backdrop.

Couples who marry here not only get to tie the knot on the beach and dine under the stars on the sand, but can also have a photo shoot with the club’s beautiful horses too.

York Racecourse
Alan Crowhurst/Getty ImagesOne of the UK’s oldest and most prestigious sporting venues, York Racecourse was built in 1731 – though it’s had a facelift since then. Set within 150 acres of parkland, guests can enjoy wandering through the grounds before and after the ceremony, with a wedding breakfast prepared by in-house caterers for up to 300 guests. As a wedding venue, its major USP is that it is the only place in York where you can get married on a top-floor balcony with York Minster in the background, which, of course, only adds to its appeal.

The W Hotel on Yas Island
Buena Vista Images/Getty ImagesWhile a motor racing course in Abu Dhabi might not sound like the most convincingly beautiful wedding destination, hear us out. The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is situated on the waterfront of Yas Island, so has stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, and the architecture of nearby skyscrapers is unsurprisingly modern and cool too. Of course, the venue itself is used to putting on the Grand Prix, so its dedicated team are more than able to pull off a fabulous wedding too – including those with guest lists numbering as high as 1,000. It’s certainly one of the more unique wedding venues in the world.
