- Mikel Brown Jr., Brooklyn Nets

Brown, The No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft, led the Brooklyn Nets in scoring with 20 points and three assists during his first taste of Summer League action against the New York Knicks.

While he had a slow start to the game, he began to catch fire from deep in the second half. Brown connected on a deep 3-pointer near center court logo to end the third quarter starting a stretch of four straight 3-point baskets on four straight field-goal attempts.

Brown is coming off of his only college basketball season with the Louisville Cardinals in which he earned ACC player and rookie of the week honors twice while averaging 18.2 points and 4.7 assists across 21 games played.

- Caleb Wilson, Chicago Bulls

Wilson , the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA draft, produced a complete performance on both ends of the floor. He recorded a team-leading 35 points, the most points ever in a Summer League debut while also contributing three blocks and two steals.

Despite the Bulls facing a loss in their first Summer League game Wilson shot 57% from the field on 21 attempts inclusing seven 3-point baskets.

The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game during his final college season with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Faces in the crowd

During Friday’s opening NBA Summer League game between the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks, former Milwaukee forward Bobby Portis watched from the sideline.

The 31-year-old spent six seasons with the Bucks before being traded to Miami this offseason as part of the blockbuster deal that also sent star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Heat in exchange for multiple first-round draft picks and five players.

Several players acquired by Milwaukee in the trade, including Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kel’el Ware, also watched the game from courtside seats.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston of the Indiana Fever attended the Indiana Pacers’ Summer League opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Clark did not play when the Fever defeated the Las Vegas Aces on July 5, but Indiana returns to Michelob Ultra Arena on Sunday as Las Vegas will look to even the season series.

Miles McBride, Mikal Bridges and Tyler Kolek of the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks also took in the action of their team’s Summer League opener against the Brooklyn Nets from courtside.
