Ron Mitchell’s Wednesday letter to the editor defending Democratic Socialists is pure liberal regurgitation. He says free everything would reduce income inequality. But there would be no incentive for hard work leading to innovations if everyone were treated to free everything.
Mr. Mitchell also says the Scandinavian countries are the happiest in the world thanks to Democratic Socialists. Does he not know that Sweden has reduced its tax rate to match that of the United States, privatized public services and reduced welfare and unemployment spending? Sweden’s reforms have made it the leading economy in the European Union because of economic growth, not because it gives out free money.
