Police foil terror plot targeting Beersheba police, central bus stations, four arrested

Israel Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) arrested four Negev residents suspected of planning terrorist attacks against police officers and security forces in Segev Shalom and Beersheba, authorities said.

The four suspects are members of the same Palestinian family and entered Israel through family reunification. Authorities arrested one suspect while he was allegedly on his way to carry out an attack. Investigators said the suspects primarily intended to target soldiers in public places.

A joint investigation by the Israel Police Southern District Central Unit and the Shin Bet uncovered the alleged terrorist cell. All four suspects live in Segev Shalom.

Authorities arrested the suspects in May and June 2026 and took them in for questioning.

One suspect posted content on social media that allegedly incited terrorist activity

The investigation found that one suspect had initially posted social media content that was allegedly to incite and support terrorist activity. Investigators said the suspects later conspired to carry out terrorist attacks.

According to the investigation, the suspects planned to open fire on the Segev Shalom police station, carry out an attack at Beersheba’s central bus station and establish terrorist infrastructure intended to harm security forces operating in the town.

The Southern District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment against the suspects in Beersheba District Court on Friday morning. Some of the alleged activity began while the suspects were minors.

Authorities described the group as a serious terrorist cell made up of young Israeli citizens who planned to carry out attacks. Israel Police and the Shin Bet said they thwarted the plot before the suspects could take steps to carry out their plans.

Israel Police and the Shin Bet said they view the involvement of Israeli citizens in terrorist activity with the utmost severity. They added that they would continue acting decisively to thwart terrorist plots and ensure that those who seek to harm Israel’s citizens and residents face the full force of the law.
