Is former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt calling it a career? The world will have to wait and see.

On the UFC 329 prelims Saturday, Garbrandt (15-8 MMA, 10-8 UFC) was knocked out by Adrian Yanez (18-6-1 MMA, 7-3-1 UFC) in what turned out to be a striker's delight for as long as it lasted (which was 2:47 into Round 1). The event took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Both fighters landed their fair share of blows, though Yanez landed last. He initially stunned and dropped Garbrandt with a punch. When Garbrandt popped up and tried to clinch, Yanez came over the top with a two-punch combination and landed a third punch on Garbrandt as he was on his way down.

With Garbrandt all sorts of discombobulated and facing the canvas, referee Herb Dean intervened.

After the fight, Garbrandt, 38, removed his gloves, potentially a signal he was going to retire. However, the broadcast did not highlight him in an manner, so it's unclear if he wanted to signal the end of his career. The loss Saturday was his third in four fights.

With the victory, Yanez, 32, gets back in the win column for the first time since March 2024 when he defeated Vinicius Salvador. He entered UFC 329 off a loss to Daniel Marcos and a controversial draw against Ricky Simon.
