A TRAIN STATION? It is often an architectural stand-out, a platform-rocking place with moxie and a community treasure, be it Art Deco, Spanish, Streamline Moderne, or something a bit midcentury in style. But the appearances of these essential locations are just parts of the stories of the timeless transportation hubs we call upon when commuting or traveling. Train stations have many important roles, including serving as launchpads to a variety of destinations that enlarge our scopes, deepen our understanding of the world, and buoy our outlook. And sometimes, they engage us in a way that help us to dream up, and fulfill, new “get out there” goals. With that in mind, the stations that serve the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner are adding something fresh and inspirational to their many offerings, an adventuresome addition created to pique the interest of travelers who are eager to visit many of the locations and events near the Surfliner stations.
29 LIMITED-EDITION STICKERS: A program called “Endless Escapes,” one that will give travelers an uplifting objective over the coming months as they swing by rail stops up and down the coast, is now pulling into the station. The campaign will feature collectible maps along with 29 collectible stickers representing fabulous events, landmarks, and other regional treasures that are found within the 351-mile corridor served by the Pacific Surfliner; each sticker represents a place or experience that is with short stroll from a station (think 10 or 15 minutes, give or take). Presented by the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency, the maps will be available starting April 17, which is World Public Transportation Day. Where, though, can you find your stickers? You’ll pick them up, along with your map, at the Surfliner stations that are staffed or at the Café Car while onboard your train.
“SOMETHING INTERACTIVE AND MEMORABLE”: “World Public Transportation Day is the perfect moment to celebrate not just how we travel, but why we travel,” said Jason Jewell, LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency Managing Director. “The Endless Escapes Sticker Map turns the journey into something interactive and memorable, encouraging riders to rediscover the beauty, diversity, and accessibility of the Southern California coast by train.” Will this “Escapes”-themed offering prompt you to cover the whole route in the months ahead as you colorfully cover your map in the limited-edition stickers? Talk about a summer-spectacular goal for you and your train-loving family.
SHARE YOUR “ESCAPES”: Pacific Surfliner is inviting you to use the tag #EndlessEscapes to show your train-tastic progress on social media.
