While vacationing in Fiji in 2012, Barry Walker was greeted by a friendly local who placed a flowered lei around his neck and whispered into his ear, “Welcome home.” He and his wife, Shauna, soon fell in love with the Yasawa archipelago—a chain of volcanic islands off Fiji’s western edge, famous as a backdrop for The Blue Lagoon films.

“We were sitting on a beach and saw this little island in the distance,” Barry, cofounder of the California-based cannabis company Dub Brothers, told Mansion Global. “We then got picked up by a local boat and taken there. We went around the island, and the locals said it had been deserted for a while.”

Serendipitously, the 75-acre Vawa Island later came up for sale, and the couple paid about $2 million to take over a 99-year lease from a New Zealand-based billionaire. They spent about five years transforming the uninhabited island into a self-sufficient off-grid paradise, which they now have on the market for $10 million—down from the initial $15 million asking price in early 2025. Adam Brawer of Compass and Mitch Hagerman of Sotheby’s Fiji share the listing, which is being sold fully furnished with an 85-year tourism lease.

At the center of the property is a four-bedroom, five-bathroom contemporary home, which offers roughly 5,500 square feet of open, single-level living space. Interiors are accented with design touches culled from the pair’s travels to Morocco, India, and Europe, while cyclone-resistant walls of glass provide a seamless connection to the tropical surroundings. The sustainable infrastructure includes satellite connectivity, solar power, and a desalination system.

Completed in 2023 by a Danish architect and an Australian builder, the Malibu-inspired structure is complemented by a 3,200-square-foot hardwood deck that wraps around a nearly 40,000-gallon swimming pool lined in French travertine tile. Highlights include a spacious, concrete-floored great room centered on a dining area, along with a kitchen outfitted with patterned tile floors, marble countertops, and a walk-in pantry. Each bedroom has a private outdoor bath with a Moroccan-tiled shower, while two cabins provide additional space for guests and staff.

Per Goldeneye Media, the Walkers are parting with the South Pacific island retreat due to their ongoing divorce but will always cherish memories from camping on the beach to swimming with sea turtles. “Time slows way down when I am there with my family, and it’s delicious,” Shauna reflected. “It has always been an incredible opportunity to connect, to be present together, and to marvel at this beautiful life.”
