The OpenMandriva project put out a statement today concerning an attempted distribution sabotage effort. Part of the OpenMandriva GitHub repository was deleted and there was an empty package push made to OpenMandriva's Cooker repository in trying to obsolete all GNOME and COSMIC packages.
OpenMandriva developer AngryPenguin issued the statement minutes ago regarding this reported sabotage effort. Part of their GitHub repository was removed and the empty package if not caught could have led to issues for OpenMandriva users running the GNOME or COSMIC packages.
OpenMandriva developers are working now to restore the deleted repositories and addressing the obsolete package situation.
This malicious act was reportedly done by an OpenMandriva contributor after another OpenMandriva contributor had been kicked out of the Matrix chat channel for abusive behavior. In turn the administrative privileges were reportedly abused to cause this Linux distribution sabotage effort earlier today.
More details on this situation can be found via the OpenMandriva Forums.
