Samsung Electronics will unveil its next generation of foldable smartphones later this month. Ahead of the event, Roh Tae-moon, president and head of the company's Device eXperience (DX) Division, published an editorial outlining Samsung's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, signaling further advances in AI capabilities and the foldable user experience.

On July 8, Samsung Electronics sent invitations to global media and partners for Galaxy Unpacked 2026: A New Shape Unfolds. The event will take place at 2 p.m. local time on July 22 (10 p.m. Korea time) at Old Billingsgate in London. It will be livestreamed simultaneously through the Samsung Newsroom, Samsung.com, and the company's official YouTube channel.

The event's theme, "A New Shape Unfolds," hints at a new generation of foldable experiences. The invitation and teaser video feature a vertically oriented device unfolding into a wider display.

Industry sources expect Samsung to introduce its next-generation foldable lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8, at the event.

In his editorial, Roh said Samsung has refined its foldable devices with each generation since pioneering the form factor, making them thinner, lighter, more durable and more immersive. "At the upcoming Unpacked, we will present the next step," he said. He also emphasized Samsung's commitment to delivering a more personal and natural AI experience while building a foundation for innovation with a broad ecosystem of partners.
