'May not be totally aligned with the important task of securing America's elections

President Donald Trump has fired the remaining two Democrat members of the Election Assistance Commission.
One Republican also resigned.
“The president, the head of the Executive Branch, reserves the right to remove individuals that may not be totally aligned with the important task of securing America’s elections and ensuring every legal vote is counted,” the White House statement said.
The statement cited a Supreme Court ruling that allows the president to determine chiefs of agencies. That decision addressed the Federal Trade Commission specifically.
Dismissed were Democrats Benjamin Hovland and Thomas Hicks. Republican Christy McCormick quit.
“The administration from the start has been working across all agencies and local partners to safeguard elections from fraud and abuse, and investing in a strong infrastructure to sustain that mission especially in the midterm elections,” the statement said.

According to a report from the Hill, “The Election Assistance Commission is a bipartisan and independent board that helps voters participate in the process and helps officials carry out elections. The commission was established in 2002 under the Help America Vote Act.”
The report said it was unclear what would be the next step for the commission, or if Trump will appoint new members.
The commission also is in charge of “maintaining the national mail voter registration form developed in accordance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.”
