Publisher: Blue Moon Comics GroupThis debut issue includes a brand-new, U.S. Flag story by Dana Black and Lloyd Smith, plus reprints of the two U.S. Flagadventures from Diversions #4 and Diversions #21.
The issue kicks off with the new, ten-page “Out of the Ashes, a Hero Rises” plotted and illustrated by Dana Black with script and colors by Blue Moon Publisher Lloyd Smith. The story is an origin/overview of U.S. Flag’s super-heroic career as told by the person who knew him best, his former sidekick, Liberty Lad.
The final story of the issue is actually the very first U.S. Flagadventure, “The Madman and the Monster” co-plotted by Smith and Flag’s creator Donnie Page. Donnie illustrated the storywhile inker John Gentil worked miracles inking the story over photographs (not scans) Donnie had taken of the original art. Smith scripted and colored it. In true Donnie Page style, Flagtakes on Hitler, himself, along with another mad Nazi scientist who is turned into a hulking brute.
