Rap legend Rick Ross is preparing to celebrate a major career milestone 20 years after first becoming an icon.

In 2006, Ross, 50, released his debut album, Port of Miami, a certified platinum project marking the beginning of his prolific career that has seen him evolve from musician to mogul.

Now Ross is releasing his third memoir, the upcoming Renaissance of a Boss: Notes from a Creative Reawakening, a book exploring how he conquered a creative rut.

Indeed Ross is a 'boss', with a portfolio of businesses and even a record label as proof - not to mention a palatial property in Georgia called The Promise Land that is also home to the biggest residential pool in America.

It's the site of his legendary pool parties and the place he nearly broke his leg at after attempting to do a jump he called 'The Double Decker Slapper' into his pool.

'I almost broke my f**king leg... But it was fun,' he told The Daily Mail exclusively at a Spotify Audiobooks party in celebration of his new memoir at The Peppermint Club on Saturday. 'But we have gonna have a pool party after the car show, June 13.

Hip-hop icon Rick Ross is celebrating the 20 year anniversary of his debut album Port of Miami in addition to the release of his new memoir, Renaissance of a Boss: Notes from a Creative Reawakening

'You know, that's just how we celebrate. So... look forward to that. That's just one of those fun times.'

The 109-room mansion is the former home of boxing icon Evader Holyfield, who had to sell it to a bank at a public auction as part of a foreclosure for $7.5 million in 2012.

Ross snapped it up for $5.8 million at an auction in 2014 and six years later added 87 acres to the estate for an additional $1 million.

The enormous 54,000 square-foot mansion sits on 235 acres and is the largest single family home in the state of Georgia.

It's a symbol of the success he has earned after years of blood, sweat, and tears as a musician and businessman.

Ross' story began in Mississippi, where he was born before spending his childhood in Carol City, Florida.

For two years, he worked as a correctional officer, a fact he tried to deny when it first emerged later in his career.

But now, 12 albums later, Ross is grateful for the struggles life presented to him early on.

'I appreciate a lot of the falls. I understand them. They prepared you for, you know what I'm saying, the upside,' he told The Daily Mail.

'So it's just one of them things that you got to appreciate, you got to love, you know what I mean? If it was anything, I could have told a younger Rick Ross' man, "you so much closer. Don't quit, homie." That's like being a senior in school and you drop out right before you f**cking graduate. Don't do it. Don't quit.'

Now, decades later, Ross will be releasing his 12th studio album, Set In Stone.

Ross wasn't content to rest on his laurels for the new project and saw the album as an opportunity to challenge himself in the recording studio.

'I challenged myself musically. That's what the renaissance is about, it's not getting to a point where you feel you at a ceiling.

'Not only should I put out a dope album, it should be f**king challenging any body of work I ever released. And so that's what the challenge to myself was. So a lot of the records that I put on it sonically and just the way I feel, you know, what the game needed as my contribution.... I'm gonna be excited the day it's released.'

For a man as entrepreneurial as Ross with interests in an array of fields, fans may be surprised to learn he once endured a creative plateau - one he explores in his new book.

'I'm excited about this book. We really push the envelope, and of course, the body of work, Set In Stone. I'm excited for it. I feel it's gonna be a powerful year for Ricky Rozay, the ones that support me,' he told The Daily Mail.

At the Spotify bash, held at The Peppermint Club in West Hollywood, Ross read an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir, did a Q&A, before performing in an intimate setting to his passionate fans.

His memoir, Renaissance of a Boss: Notes from a Creative Reawakening, will be released on May 12.
