A Georgia man accused of killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend and their unborn baby was out on probation when he attacked her, according to court records.

Devin Anthony, 26, was arrested on Tuesday after police say he shot and killed 23-year-old Shakiya Pridgen and her unborn child.

Anthony allegedly opened fire into Pridgen's home in the early hours of the morning while she slept with her one-year-old son and three-year-old daughter.

Pridgen was found with multiple gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital, where she and her unborn child died of their injuries, according to DeKalb County Police. Her two other children were uninjured.

Pridgen was hit by three bullets, one in the stomach, which struck her baby, and twice in the shoulder, investigators told 11 Alive.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the US Marshals Service, launched a manhunt for Anthony and arrested him later that day.

He was charged with murder, feticide, aggravated assault, criminal damage and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to Pridgen's family, Anthony was the father of her unborn child, who was going to be named Kyren. 

'This act of senseless violence claimed the lives of a young mother and her unborn child, devastating a family and our community,' said DeKalb County Sheriff Melody M Maddox.

Anthony made his first court appearance on Wednesday and was ordered to be held at the DeKalb County Jail without bond.

Court records obtained by the local news station revealed Anthony had been previously charged with the murder of a man named Ronald Barner in 2021.

However, he reached a plea deal to reduce the charge to manslaughter in November 2024.

He was sentenced to 11 months in prison and 19 years of probation. 

In February, his probation was revoked for 60 days after he failed to report to his probation officer, tested positive for THC use and failed to take anger management classes. 

After serving 60 days behind bars, he was let back out on probation and ordered to re-enroll in the Daily Reporting Center, plus he was given 30 days to sign up for anger management classes.

On Sunday, just two days before she was killed, Pridgen's family hosted a baby shower for the mom-to-be.

'I want the world to know that somebody took a blessing, a blessing, from all of us, and we will get justice,' her mother, Verdina Scott, said. 

'This will not be the last time you hear from us. We will get justice for you, Shakiya, and Kyren.' 

Her family has launched a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses and support the two young children she left behind. 

'Shakiya, who was 9 months pregnant, was tragically taken from her loved ones, along with her unborn child,' the fundraiser said.

'She leaves behind a 1-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter who now face a future without their mother.'
