Carbon Clean’s expansion into India is supporting job creation in the UK, as it begins to manufacture components validated in the UK and further developed at its Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Navi Mumbai, one of the world’s largest dedicated carbon capture research facilities.

Around 250 UK jobs are expected to be supported in total, including up to 150 roles at Thomas Broadbent and Sons in Huddersfield, spanning engineering, technical design and strengthening advanced manufacturing in the North of England. As Carbon Clean continues to scale up, it is expected to support around 24 UK suppliers employing more than 3,000 people.

The company’s international growth is on track to generate around £83 million in economic value for the UK from machine costs alone over the next five years, as global demand for its technology increases.

Carbon Clean’s growth has been supported by the UK Government from its early stages following an initial £3.5 million grant that enabled the development and scaling up of its technology in the UK. The company maintains close engagement with the Government, accompanying the Prime Minister on a business delegation to India in October 2025, and more recently, joining the UK Government‑led delegation at India Energy Week 2026 to meet with business and political leaders.

Aniruddha Sharma, Chair and CEO, Carbon Clean, said:

“Opening our new research and testing centre in Mumbai is a strategic step in scaling our technology, and reflects the strength of the UK-India partnership that has supported Carbon Clean throughout its journey. As we grow internationally, we remain firmly committed to the UK and to regions such as Huddersfield, where world-class engineering expertise is helping to advance industrial decarbonisation.

“This growth will deliver economic value back to the UK, supporting skilled jobs and reinforcing our position as a global leader in carbon capture.”

Carbon Clean’s technology captures carbon emissions before they reach the atmosphere, helping industries such as cement, steel and power generation to improve their environmental impact of their operations.

The GIC in Navi Mumbai is used for the testing and refinement of Carbon Clean’s technology as it prepares for broader commercial deployment.
