CLARKSVILLE, Md. – Evelyn Francis (Talarico) Bolduc passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose generosity shaped the lives of countless people across Howard County, Maryland. She was 84 years old.
Born on Oct. 14, 1941, in Lewiston, Maine, Evelyn was the third of five children of Louis C. “Luiggi” and Annis Talarico. Evelyn was captain of the cheerleading squad at Lewiston High School, a member of the National Honor Society, and graduated with the Class of 1959. She went on to earn her degree from Gorham State Teachers College in 1963. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Jean Paul “JP” Bolduc; a loving partnership that would span 63 years and take them from Maine to Ohio, New York, and finally to Clarksville, Md., where the family put down roots in 1973 and remained ever since. Their home became the center of a growing family filled with laughter, faith, hospitality, and unconditional love. Together they raised four children, celebrated 12 grandchildren, and created a legacy that will continue for generations.
Her family’s memories include summers at her parents’ oceanside camp in Harpswell, winters at the farm in Sabattus, and countless meals at the family’s beloved restaurant, Luiggi’s Pizzeria.
Evelyn devoted more than 35 years of her life to volunteer service in Howard County, Maryland, with a particular focus on healthcare, education, and the Catholic Church. Her impact was both broad and lasting. She was a board member of the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center — a role she held for 11 years, two of them as chair of the board.
Following the hospital’s acquisition by Johns Hopkins in 1993, she was appointed to the board of the Johns Hopkins Health System. She also served for eight years as the Chairwoman of the Howard County General Hospital Foundation. During this time, she expanded and relocated critical areas of the hospital, raising $5 million in one campaign and spearheading a successful $30 million capital campaign that transformed the institution. As a direct result of her service and contributions, the hospital named The Bolduc Family Outpatient Center at Howard County General Hospital in her honor.
Her commitment to education was equally deep. She fulfilled two terms on the Board of the Howard Community College Education Foundation, including serving as Chairwoman of the Columbia Classic Grand Prix, through which she helped raise more than $750,000. She and JP established the Evelyn and JP Bolduc Endowment to support Rouse Scholars at Howard Community College. She also served on the Board of Trustees of what is now the Howard County Community Foundation. Together with JP, she founded the Bolduc Family Foundation to support nonprofit organizations throughout the region, including the Louis C. Talarico Scholarship honoring her father’s service with the Lewiston Fire Department.
Evelyn’s Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She faithfully attended Mass and quietly lived her faith through service to others. In 2006, she played a leading role in fundraising and providing principal support for the construction of the new church at St. Louis Parish in Clarksville, Md., helping create a spiritual home for generations of parishioners.
Her service was recognized with honors that reflected the esteem in which her community held her. In 2008, she was inducted into the Howard County Commission for Women’s Hall of Fame. In 2021, she received the Leadership Legacy Award from Leadership Howard County, given to individuals whose sustained service has added enduring value to the community. She also received the SHERO Award in 2007 from the Daily Record, which recognizes trailblazing women who make meaningful impacts in their communities, workplaces, and industries.
For all her public accomplishments, Evelyn’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured summers with JP, her children, and grandchildren at the restored oceanfront family farm in Harpswell, and aboard the family’s yacht, Just Aboat Right. Though Maryland became home for more than five decades, Maine forever remained in her heart.
Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, JP Bolduc; her four children, John (Stacy) Bolduc, Anne (Jay) Jang, Jim (Anne) Bolduc, and Mary (Paul) Glagola; grandchildren, Jackson, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ryan, Nicholas, Brooks, Maxwell, Jacob, and Katelyn; and her predeceased grandson, Matthew. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilyn (Talarico) Newell and her husband Douglas of Hebron, and Dr. Louis C. “Gidge” Talarico II of New Gloucester.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Carmela “Cookie” (Talarico) Bates and Elizabeth “Betty” (Talarico) Bryant; and her grandson, Matthew.
Family and friends are invited to viewings on Thursday, July 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, 12540 Clarksville Pike (Route 108), Clarksville, MD 21029. A private Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be held for the family.
Through her unwavering faith, boundless generosity, and enduring love for family and community, she leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to
