Celebrity Christmas trees ranked from tacky to tasteful - including Gemma Collins' explosion of pink and the TV star who failed with a 'vomit of tinsel'

Speaking to the Daily Mail, an expert has revealed their definitive ranking of the best (and worst) famous festive first across the UK, proving that money doesn't always equal taste.

With access to professional tree trimmers and a boundless bauble budget, celebrities should - in theory - set a high benchmark for elegant Christmas decor.

But when Gemma Collins unveiled her Christmas tree earlier this week, replete with huge artificial roses and a pastel pink bow on top, the result was rather more TOWIE than tasteful.

Now, an interior design expert has analysed trees belonging to everyone from Posh and Becks to Richard E. Grant and Michelle Keegan to provide a definitive ranking of the best and worst of 2025.

Some have taken the traditional Christmas theme and put their own spin on it, with ex-Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague sticking to her off-white aesthetic with uniform beige bells and baubles.

Elsewhere presenter Stacey Dooley raised eyebrows with a more experimental tree covered in a white veil, and another festooned entirely with silver strings.

Fearne Cotton's showed character with some personalised ornaments, while Amanda Holden channelled a Los Angeles hotel lobby with a huge traditional tree, decorated to the nines in gold and scarlet.

Going for a cosier feel, pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor has strewn beads and tinsel haphazardly across the branches, while model and socialite Poppy Delevingne arranged a scattering of purposefully mismatched trinkets to emulate homey novelty.

Other takes were more heartfelt - with Kelly Osborne paying tribute to her late father Ozzy with her Christmas decorations.

Here, Dhilnawaaz Khan Trotman, Founder of DKT interior design studio, reveals which celebrities have kept it classy and whose tacky tree needs an urgent makeover.

The Beckhams

The Beckhams opted for a large Christmastree, placed neatly in a bay window and be-decked in warm golden lights and ribbons to match, very understated for Posh Spice, 51

While Posh and Becks have a history of bright colours and matching ensembles of varying prints, but their tree was surprisingly lowkey, channelling warmth fireplace aesthetics with dimmed yellow fairylights and golden, earthy baubles.

Dhilnawaaz : This is a cute, traditional Christmas tree, and it is not overdone. The warm lights and simple styling let the shape of the tree do the work, which always reads as confident.

Verdict: Tasteful

What makes a Christmas tree tasteful or tacky in your eyes?

What's your view?

Gemma Collins

Gemma Collins, 44, is not know for her subtlety and her flamboyant design choices can certainly be seen in her rose-themed powder pink showstopper complete with a huge bow on top

Gemma has always added her own flair to everything she wears, so it's perhaps no wonder her fir contains parts of her loud, flamboyant personality with huge statement flowers - and a bafflingly huge pastel bow.

Dhilnawaaz : This has a boho, styled look that will appeal to some, and it is definitely different- but feels a bit disconnected from that warm, nostalgic Christmas feeling.

Verdict: Tacky

Molly Mae Hague

The Queen of minimalism herself, Molly Mae, 26, went for a subtle cream colour scheme, using a warm white lights sparingly and focusing on matching baubles and white ribbons

The queen of the 'clean girl' aesthetic and 'old money' elegance for girls in their 20s, influencer Molly Mae has matched her off-white baubles and ribbons to her beige carpet, curtains and furniture.

Dhilnawaaz : Chic and easy to achieve. Minimal palette, soft lighting, and a restrained approach that feels modern without being cold.

Verdict: Tasteful

Stacey Dooley

Stacey Dooley, 38, has not one but two Christmas trees this year. The TV presenter has opted for a pink and silver sparkly effort and one with a veil over the top

Doubling the festive spirit, Stacey opted for two trees which both had eyebrows raised.

Dhilnawaaz : What in the tinsel vomit?! It is creative and it is certainly a statement, but it overwhelms the space and loses the cosy Christmas atmosphere. When it comes to the veiled white tree - I love the idea, but it is horribly executed. The veiled tree concept can be beautiful when it is done with intention and clarity, but this version feels unresolved. Rosin Lafferty’s veiled tree is a great example of how to execute this idea well.

Verdict: Tacky

Richard E Grant

Like Richard E. Grant, 68, himself, the actor's tree is a spectacular sight, laden with exciting multicoloured baubles and lights and nestled near a window, in the heart of his living room

Richard E Grant's eccentric persona radiates through his tree, which channels whimsy with multi-coloured decorations and charminfly lopsided positioning.

Dhilnawaaz: Okay, a bit Willy Wonka, but cute. It is whimsical and nostalgic, with lots of personality, and it leans into the joy of Christmas rather than aiming for perfection.

Verdict: Tasteful

Kelly Osbourne

Despite the death of her father Ozzy Osborne earlier this year, Kelly Osbourne, 41, has got in to the spirit with a tree that towers well over 7ft and is covered in tinsel and a tribute to her dad

Paying homage to her late father Ozzy, Kelly by placing a huge light-up O amid the tree's branches, nestled between sparsely spaced baubles.

Dhilnawaaz: While sweet, it is aesthetically uninspired. It feels like a collection of mismatched pieces, which is probably more realistic of regular family home trees, a curation of odd décor collected over the years. It feels personal, but not particularly considered from a design perspective.

Verdict: Tacky

Fearne Cotton

Fearne's Christmas tree may not be real, but her love for quirky decorations certainly is - from Scrabble letters to octopuses in Santa hats, the radio presenter, 44, has got it all going on

Fearne's tree glowed from within, adorned with personalised ornaments, delicately engineered tinsels and a classic star for the top.

Dhilnawaaz: This feels like a warm hug. It is a normal family Christmas tree, but executed tidy, which is why it works. It feels lived in and genuinely festive.

Verdict: Tasteful

Poppy Delevingne

Poppy Delevingne's Christmas tree is as elegant as she is. The model, 39, has a slim tree complete with multicoloured lights and artfully placed classic patterned baubles

Poppy Delevingne opted out of the warm hues most households go for to emulate cosiness during the festive period, instead choosing blue, green and subdued yellow tones to decorate her tree.

Dhilnawaaz: Just eww. The cooler, multicolour lighting and eclectic styling take it away from the warmth I associate with Christmas interiors.

Verdict: Tacky

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 46, has put up a tree as fun as her decor complete with multicoloured lights and a mish-mash of decorations - she was even helped by her children

Murder on the dancefloor hitmaker Sophie Ellis-Bextor piled her tree high with haphazardly strewn tinsel and fairylights.

Dhilnawaaz: This one is a hard no for me. It is busy and visually loud, and it does not feel cohesive.

Verdict: Tacky.

Amanda Holden

Amanda Holden has taken go big or go home to another level with her maximalist Christmas tree and banister wreath

Channelling a Los Angeles hotel lobby, Amanda Holden decorated her mansion with a towering tree and huge scarlet ribbons.

Dhilnawaaz: Yawn. Technically polished, but it feels impersonal, like a display rather than a home tree.

Verdict: Tacky

Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan

Taking advice from Amanda Holden, Mark Wright, 38, and Michelle Keegan, 38, have gone for a similar all red theme from their baubles to the bows and the boxes underneath

Mark and Michelle's tree is romantic with dark lighting, shadowy green decor and just a flirty tease of fairylights.

Dhilnawaaz: I like this. It is bold and it works. The styling is dramatic, but it has a clear theme, so it feels intentional rather than chaotic.

Verdict: Tasteful

Katie Piper

Rather than go for a warm and homely feel, Katie Piper, 42, decided on colder icy tones with blue and sage green decorations for her grey-themed living room

While small trees can sometimes feel cluttery and weird in bigger spaces, Katie's fir is the perfect fit.

Dhilnawaaz: Simple and different. Nice. It feels calm and modern, and the styling is clean without feeling sterile.

Verdict: Tasteful

Alex Jones

Alex Jones's Christmas tree couldn't look cuter if she tried - perfectly symmetric, the decorations are so neatly placed it looks like something out of a children's book

Alex emulated a winter wonderland with red and pink baubles, toy trinkets and cartoony decor for her tree.

Dhilnawaaz: Traditional family Christmas look that feels warm and lived in. It is joyful and not overly curated, which gives it charm.

Verdict: Tasteful

Kate and Rio Ferdinand

A white Christmas they may not have in Dubai, but Kate Ferdinand stuck to ivory hues with a huge statement bow to finish off her and husband Rio's Christmas tree

Bringing a bit of back home to their Dubai mansion, Kate and Rio modelled their tree to the sunny lighting of their climate with white and gold decorations.

Dhilnawaaz: Feels modern and executed well. Cohesive palette, confident styling, and it looks finished.

Verdict: Tasteful

Claire Sweeney

Actress Claire Sweeney curated a festive wreath to serve as decor alongside the Christmas tree this year

Claire leaned full-on into the Christmas spirit with heavy stacks of decorations and tinsel on her min tree.

DhilnawaazIt's okay. A traditional tree styling. Fine. It is classic festive dressing, but it does not feel particularly elevated or considered.

Verdict: Tacky

Ruth Langsford

Ruth Langsford made sure to go for a unfiform style and stuck to the classic festive colours: gold, red and green

Ruth sought professional help to set up her perfectly balanced festive fir up, with trinkets of different shape, colours and sizes on the tree - so it's perhaps no wonder that she delivered.

DhilnawaazClassic. A timeless, traditional Christmas tree done properly.

Verdict: Tasteful
