K-beauty, K-pop, Kendo (martiall arts) and a matcha masterclass make for an ideal family outing this Sunday. And for those who have not fully embraced Korean food, fashion or music, there will be plenty of local flavours to eat, shop and explore too.

The Look East Edition at AKAN in Jubilee Hills, curated by Late Checkout (founded by Priyanjana Roy Das) and Seoulful (by Swati Yarabolu), brings together food, craft and culture on June 7.

All three floors of the lounge bar will take on distinct identities for the event. The rooftop will host workshops and performances, including K-pop sessions, Kendo demonstrations and DJ sets. Visitors can also explore teas by Passport Brew, matcha by Kissa Cafe — which will host a hands-on matcha workshop — alongside AI-powered skin scans, craft corners, tattoo and nail studios, handmade candles and desserts.

The second floor is dedicated to glam and K-beauty, featuring fashion labels, beauty styling stations including Skinbae, skin care brand , K-lifestyle merchandise, a hanbok photobooth, flowers and outdoor food stalls.

The first floor will showcase homegrown brands, including Bahrisons Booksellers, alongside a live band. Visitors can also browse Reema & Luna’s Korean skincare range. Stalls will wind up by 7.30pm.

“Our events have always been about putting the right people, brands and moments in one room and watching something happen,” says Priyanjana. “With Look East Edition, we wanted a space where a family could spend an entire day, and that’s exactly what we’ve built.”

Among the highlights is a visiting artist who will offer free Sumi-e (Japanese ink wash) art and calligraphy sessions from 12pm to 2.30pm, alongside a celebration of anime culture.

Seoulful, the Korean pop-up that debuted last year, will bring K-culture alive with Korean Random Dance and K-pop dance sessions. Talk of the Town will teach J-Hope’s Killin’ It Girl, while Varsha Jaju will lead a K-pop dance workshop for children.
