A video showing the Indian flag being burnt and damaged on a road, along with the American and Israeli flags, is being shared on social media (here, here, and here) with the claim that the incident took place in Iran. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows the Indian flag being burnt and damaged on a road in Iran.

Fact: The viral video does not show the Indian flag being burnt in Iran. It was filmed during the 9th Muharram procession organised by the Imamia Students Organization Pakistan (ISO) Karachi on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi, Pakistan. We found no evidence that the Indian flag was burnt or targeted in Iran. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the same video uploaded on the YouTube channel The Data Dwellers on 27 June 2026, titled “Burning Indian, US, and Israeli Flags in the Streets of Karachi During a Pro-Iran Protest.” We also found a higher-resolution version of the video in a Reddit post, where the banners displayed in the footage are clearly visible.

Upon close examination of the higher-resolution video, we noticed that the posters and banners displayed in the footage featured text in both English and Urdu. The English text read “Blood Donation Camp,” while the Urdu banner translated to “Imamia Student Organisation.”

Using these clues, we searched for the relevant keywords and found a Facebook post on the Imamia Blood Transfusion & Medical Services page. The post featured a photograph displaying the same “Blood Donation Camp” banner seen in the viral video. According to the post, the photograph was taken during the 8th Muharram Blood Donation Camp held at Imambargah Samarrah in New Rizvia Society, Karachi, Pakistan.

We also found an Instagram post (archived) by Imamia Students Organization Pakistan (ISO) Karachi, published on 25 June 2026, featuring a video that captures the same scenes as the viral clip from a different angle. The caption accompanying the video stated that it was filmed during the 9th Muharram procession.

We also found a post shared on the organisation’s official Facebook page on 25 June 2026, featuring photographs from the event. The post stated that the Imamia Students Organization Pakistan, Karachi Region, organised the 9 Muharram-ul-Haram procession on M.A. Jinnah Road and that the American and Israeli flags would be burned at its conclusion. Several individuals in the photographs are wearing the same clothing as those seen in the viral video, confirming that both were captured at the same event.

Using Google Maps Street View, we geolocated the building visible in the background of the viral video and found that the footage was filmed on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi, Pakistan. The blue building seen in the video matches Midtown, further confirming the location, as shown in the comparison images below.

We found no authentic news reports or evidence that the Indian flag was burnt or targeted in Iran.
