A video allegedly showing people kissing during a “Cockroach Jantha Party” protest at Jantar Mantar is being widely shared on social media (here, here, and here). We fact-checked the claim made in these posts. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.
The archived post can be seen here.Claim: The video shows people kissing during a “Cockroach Jantha Party” protest at Jantar Mantar.
Fact: The video does not show visuals from the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar. It actually depicts the 2014 “Kiss of Love” campaign held at JNU. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A reverse image search using the keyframes of the viral video led us to several uploads containing the same visuals from years ago (here, here). The earliest version we found was shared in 2014 under the title “JNU Students Kissing Party,” clearly indicating that the video predates the 2026 CJP protests.
On performing a relevant keyword search, we found several media reports about the campaign (here, here, here). Further, we also found a Facebook page named “Kiss of Love” that shared a post on 9 November 2014 featuring the same women seen in the viral video. According to the post, the protest was held near Ganga Dhaba at JNU.

The “Kiss of Love” protest was organised against moral policing and in support of people’s freedom to express love in public. The movement began in Kerala after a café in Kozhikode was attacked by a right-wing group over public displays of affection. It later spread to other cities as a peaceful protest supporting personal freedom, gender equality, and the right to choose whom to love.
To sum up, an old JNU ‘Kiss of Love’ protest video is falsely linked to the 2026 CJP protest.
