Chinese coffee equipment company Muvna has launched the Mammoth, a modular commercial coffee grinder with detachable burr chambers for different burr formats.

With a list price of $3,200, the Mammoth ships with two burr modules, one for Muvna’s 98-millimeter flat burrs and the other for the brand’s 83-millimeter conical burrs. A clamp lever on the top of the compact, stationary aluminum body of the grinder lifts to release a module for swapping.

Each burr module weighs about 5 kilograms, or 11 pounds, and contains its own spindle for driving the burrs. The carriers are not compatible with third-party burrs, though Muvna is developing additional modules with 100-millimeter conical burrs, 102-millimeter flat burrs and 83-millimeter hybrid conical ghost-tooth burrs.

“Mammoth was developed for specialty coffee enthusiasts, specialty cafes and coffee roasters who frequently change beans and require a versatile grinding solution for multiple scenarios,” a company spokesperson recently told Daily Coffee News. “Once familiar with the process, users can swap grinding head modules in under 10 seconds, with no tools required.”

The Mammoth enters the market amid growing interest in commercial-caliber coffee grinders that can alternate between flat and conical burrs.

Hong Kong-based Wug2 was an early entrant with its 83A grinder, a variable-speed machine featuring interchangeable burr carriers introduced in 2021. Varia joined the field in 2024 with the VS6 grinder, which ships with 58-millimeter flat burrs and offers optional parts for swapping in 63-millimeter conical burrs. Earlier this month, Australian grinder maker Option-O revealed the two-headed Lagom GDS grinder, which houses two sets of burrs side by side.

Muvna’s first reveal of the grinder now known as the Mammoth occurred in 2025 at the HostMilano show in Italy. Sales of the Mammoth launched in May of this year, following its appearance at World of Coffee San Diego

Beyond the interchangeable modules, features include a stepless RPM adjustment knob with an embedded digital TFT screen on the grinder base, allowing users to set burr rotation speed. An LED illuminates grounds as they exit, while a plasma generator mitigates static to reduce scattering. A combined knocker-blower system minimizes retention, while the single-dose hopper and portafilter holder attach magnetically.

Following the Mammoth and the Dosecraft M-100 automatic whole-bean doser, Muvna’s upcoming releases are slated to include dedicated flat- and conical-burr grinders, as well as a series of milk-steaming pitchers.

The Muvna brand launched in China in 2020, while international product rollouts and U.S. trademark registrations for brand assets and products began appearing in 2023. The brand turned many coffee industry heads in late 2024 with the launch of the Mach crank-driven manual espresso machine
