After Golf's Longest Day, Charlie Woods helped secure a spot in the US Open - just, not exactly for himself.

Charlie, the son of Tiger Woods, was on the bag for friend Miles Russell - one of the top young golfers in the world.

On Monday, Russell played his way into the US Open - set to take place at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island next week - by winning a playoff on a golf course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Russell claimed one of the two available sports at the qualifier held at BallenIsles Country Club after winning a three-for-two playoff.

Now, Woods could be making the trip up to Shinnecock alongside Russell to caddy for him - with the Open qualifier praising the work of his bag man and future Florida State teammate.

'We kept it so light,' Russell said of the partnership, according to the PGA Tour. 'It is the first time I had a buddy on the bag, and I liked it.'

Russell cruised through most of his first round before carding a triple-bogey 7 on the last hole. In his afternoon session, he put up seven birdies to score a 67 and then finally qualified via the playoff.

'I don't think it has quite set in yet,' Russell said of making the U.S. Open. 'I am pretty speechless at the moment. It is something you dream of and practice for.'

The Florida course hosted one of ten Monday qualifiers - known as 'Golf's Longest Day' where hopefuls play 36 holes to try and make the field.

Other notable players who made the field via qualifiers included Emiliano Grillo, Alejandro Tosti, Neal Shipley, Zac Blair, Billy Horschel, Davis Thompson, Max Greyserman, Chris Kirk and Keith Mitchell.

Notable golfers who couldn't win the necessary qualifiers included Max Homa, Tony Finau, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Jhonattan Vegas and Lucas Glover among others.
