While Liam Neeson is making headlines for his surprising new romance with Pamela Anderson, it is his son whose love life has given the family a reason to celebrate.

Daniel Neeson has announced he is engaged to his glamorous girlfriend Natalie Ackerman, a New York-based fashion marketing manager.

Tequila founder Daniel, 29, is the younger son of Liam and Natasha Richardson, who tragically died in 2009 aged 45 after suffering a head injury in a skiing accident in Canada.

He announced the happy news on Instagram over the weekend, sharing photos of the proposal and their engagement party in New York on Saturday night.

Daniel revealed he proposed during a romantic boat trip on the Hudson River - taking Natalie, 28, completely by surprise as he got down on one knee to present her with a sparkling diamond engagement ring.

He shared a photo of the moment on Instagram, captioning it: 'Life is beautiful', as friends reshared the snap and commented: 'screaming crying’ and ‘favourite people are getting married!!’

Daniel and Natalie met when they were students at Tulane University in New Orleans and have been dating for eight years.

The couple, who live together in New York, celebrated their engagement on Saturday night with a fun-filled bash with their friends at an Irish pub in Manhattan.

Guests sipped personalised bespoke cocktails made using De Nada Tequila - the brand Daniel co-founded with his friend Adam Millman - with playful names including Tulane Bombshell, Wine Rita, Knit Nat Negroni and the Dingus Paloma.

Daniel shared a video to his Instagram Stories of him sweeping Natalie off her feet to give her a romantic kiss.

They could also be seen cutting into a white cake decorated with flowers and laughing with friends as Natalie proudly showed off her sparkling ring.

Daniel, whose brother Micheál Richardson, 30, is an actor like their famous father, was 12 years old when their mother died.

Posting an emotional tribute to her on the anniversary of her death last year, he wrote: 'I look forward to reuniting one day but for now I take solace in knowing you’re beside me every step of the way.

'Hopefully, I’m making you proud. I think you would definitely be proud of my margarita skills. She was the OG margarita mama!

'As a kid, I used to ask her for a sip of hers, and she would gently say not till you’re older. Little did she know I would one day start my own tequila brand and have way too many margaritas at my fingertips.'

Natasha, who played Lindsay Lohan's mum in The Parent Trap opposite Dennis Quaid, was the daughter of Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave and director Tony Richardson, and the sister of actress Joely Richardson.

She had been on a family holiday at the Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec when she fell on a beginner slope during a private lesson. 

At first she appeared fine, even joking about the tumble and refusing medical attention, but within hours she complained of a severe headache and was rushed to hospital in Montreal before being transferred to New York. 

Two days later she was declared brain dead and taken off life support with Liam at her side.

Now, 16 years later, Liam, 73, has struck up a surprising new romance with his co-star Pamela, 58, after starring together in the Naked Gun reboot.

However, their relationship has faced scepticism during their whirlwind press tour, with some fans suspecting it to be a publicity stunt.

The pair first sparked a romance buzz when they were spotted being affectionate while promoting their comedy in New York City and London this summer.

'Pam is very drawn to Liam because he is totally open to her way of thinking and living, and especially her approach to fame, which is impressive,' an insider told the Daily Mail at the time.

'She has been telling friends he is smitten and does a lot of sweet things for her, like sending her flowers, and spending time with her sons and dogs,' the person added.

The source noted that they had managed to keep the long-distance romance private by spending time at her house in Canada.

Liam gushed over his new flame, saying: 'I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with. I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you. She’s funny and so easy to work with.'

This week, Pamela shut down the showmance rumours while accepting the Deauville 2025 Talent Award at the Deauville American Film Festival on Friday.

She declared: 'I do not and will never feed into PR stunts. That would be a death sentence. I'm authentically driven.'

The former Baywatch star stressed she keeps her love life private, saying on stage: 'I'm superstitious when it comes to love. And I'm not comfortable sharing any shred of my romantic life.

'I know I'll fall in love again and again on screen. That is my job. If we do it well, you will feel it, a kind of projection. It is the greatest compliment.

'So please think positive. And I appreciate your good wishes. There are no silly games being played. I am sincere. Do not mistake my kindness for weakness or my boldness for bitterness.'

And while some have questioned their chemistry, insiders close to the pair insist their connection is the real deal. 

In late August a source told the Daily Mail that the two A-listers have a 'genuine' connection and that claims that their feelings for each other are fake and just a PR stunt are 'ridiculous'.

It was added that 'everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity.'
