Minister for Urban Development Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Tuesday held a series of meetings on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Mysuru, urging Congress workers to ensure that every eligible voter is enrolled by providing proper guidance to the public.

Mr. Yathindra first addressed booth-level meetings on the SIR of electoral rolls in Biligere, Varuna and T. Narsipura Town Municipal Council limits, which fall under the Varuna Assembly constituency. He later chaired a meeting at the Mysuru District Congress office in the city.

Addressing the booth-level meetings, Mr. Yathindra instructed party workers and office-bearers to guide the public on enrolling eligible voters, carrying out corrections in the electoral rolls and making other necessary changes in accordance with the prescribed procedures. He urged them to create greater awareness about the revision process.

He also called upon party workers to remain in constant touch with the public throughout the SIR exercise and take all necessary steps to ensure that every eligible voter is able to exercise the right to vote.

At the meeting held at the district Congress office, convened in accordance with the directions of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Mr. Yathindra reiterated that party workers should assist citizens in completing the enrolment and correction process.

He pointed out that Booth Level Officers (BLOs), who have been assigned the task of collecting about 1,500 enumeration forms during the month-long door-to-door exercise, would have to process around 50 forms a day while simultaneously discharging their regular duties.

He urged party workers to work in coordination to ensure that every eligible citizen is included in the electoral rolls and stressed that no voter should be deprived of the franchise due to a lack of awareness.

Among those present were Mysuru District Congress president B.J. Vijay Kumar, Mysuru City Congress president R. Murthy, KPCC spokesperson M. Lakshmana and other party leaders.
