London is more exposed than any other region in the developed world to an AI jobs bloodbath – with three in four jobs at risk, analysis suggests.

A report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) puts the capital at the top of regional rankings for workforce exposure to AI.

The assessment looks at the share of jobs ‘highly exposed’ to AI ‘now or in the near future’.

The OECD reported that the share of workers with jobs exposed to AI varies widely, from about 16 per cent in some regions to more than 70 per cent in others.

The report said regions with a high concentration of employment in industries such as tech, finance and education – and occupations using cognitive and non-routine tasks – had the greatest AI exposure.

It is the latest warning that the rapid advance of the new technology is on course to transform the workforce.

While optimists believe AI will turbocharge the economy and potentially create new jobs, some companies are already using it to ditch large numbers of workers.
