French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Syria is historic: he is the first EU leader to visit the country since the rebels took over and ousted dictator al-Assad. Both Macron and al-Sharaa hope to build a path towards Syria's rehabilitation, but two unclaimed explosions in Damascus near Macron's hotel shows that there are still major security challenges to overcome.
