Kim Kardashian shared a series of throwback snaps to Instagram of her dazzling array of Met Gala looks over the last 13 years.

The Skims mogul, 45, got nostalgic on the eve of the biggest night in fashion and even gave her widely mocked 'couch dress' a nod. 

It was Kim's first year attending the Met Gala in 2013 as then-husband Kanye West's guest and the reality star was pregnant with their first child North. 

The socialite wore a Givenchy floral-print dress by Riccardo Tisci which has been one of her most ridiculed outfits. 

Tisci chose a stretch fabric to account for her baby bump and Anna Wintour insisted she wear the printed version of the gown rather than a black one that was waiting in the wings.

Kim's gown became an instant meme, mocked for looking like some grandmother's couch. She recalled that Robin Williams even tweeted that she resembled Mrs Doubtfire.

The Skims owner admitted that she cried the whole ride home over the trolling but, in hindsight, really loves the style.

A year later, Kim received her first invitation for the gala and stunned in a navy strapless dress by Lanvin. 

She shared a photo being fitted into the cinched waist number with a daring thigh high split, Kim said at the time: 'My dress was originally made of this amazing leather with metallic detailing. 

'But we decided at the last minute to redo it in blue satin.'

The TV personality seemed to skip out her very sheer and sexy lace gown by Roberto Cavalli in 2015 and shared a snap of her bold Balmain silver dress that looked like a futuristic gown with a slit up the side.

In 2017, Kim, who went without Kanye for the first time at the event, donned a more simple elegant off the shoulder white gown by Vivienne Westwood but this ensemble failed to make the cut for her nostalgic post. 

For the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination Costume Institute Gala in 2018, Kim wowed in a gold mesh Versace dress that fit her like a 'glove'. 

She looked incredible as she posted a photo of her glamorous outfit in her New York hotel room ahead of hitting the red carpet. 

It was all hands on deck in 2019, for Camp: Notes on Fashion as Kim had to wear a waist trainer to get her midsection as small as possible to pull off this Thierry Mugler dress.

The look was supposed to be 'wet' which is why she had crystals that looked like raindrops coming off of her and styled her hair in a wet do. 

Getting ready for the big night in her hotel room, Kim was surrounded by her glam team as well as The Kardashian's filming crew. 

The mother of four's most shocking Met Gala ensemble was in 2021 when she dressed head to toe in a black look that covered her face. 

Kim has previously admitted it wasn't her favourite look, 'I fought against it. I was like, I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face?' she told Vogue. 

'But Demna [Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director] and the team were like, "This is a costume gala. This is not a Vanity Fair party where everyone looks beautiful. There’s a theme and you have to wear the mask. That is the look."'

Kim was seen being guided through her hotel lobby ahead of travelling to The Met. 

The 2022 Met was a look back to the 1960s and Kim turned heads in the same beaded gown Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe had on when she sang Happy Birthday Mr President to President John F Kennedy in 1962.

But squeezing her famous curves into the historic frock was no easy feat, as the reality star revealed she forced herself to lose 16lb in just three weeks in order to make it fit.

It was also revealed that Kim only wore the dress for a matter of minutes, as she changed into a replica of the dress once she had walked the red carpet, to make sure it wasn't damaged inside the Met Gala party.

Marilyn - who died at 36 from a drug overdose in 1962 - is said to have paid $1,440 for the custom piece to the designer, and it holds the record for the most expensive dress sold at an auction, making it one of the most expensive dresses in the world.

Legend has it that the garment was so tight, Marilyn had to be sewn into the dress prior to her performance for the President.

Kim, who attended this year's event with then boyfriend Pete Davidson, had the same struggle when she discovered the dress didn't fit her, and began to cry when she learned that the dress could not be altered.

In the throwback snap, Kim was seen wearing white gloves while being helped into the gown by a specialist.  

A year later, the Kardashian star got nostalgic again as she paid homage to her jaw-dropping 2007 nude Playboy shoot in an eye-popping pearl-embellished necklace.

The reality star, who famously posed in nothing but pearl necklaces in a sizzling shoot at the start of her career, went topless beneath a selection of chains.

The star flashed her cleavage beneath the selection of pearl necklaces, with the dress also boasting a champagne-hued bodysuit.

There are famously no photos allowed to be taken inside the gala but Kim shared a sneaky snap with sisters Kendall and Kylie candidly in the bathroom. 

In 2024, Kim sparked a shock reaction for her astonishingly tiny waist in a silver corset as she donned a custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano. 

Her tiny torso look featured a shiny metallic silver corset which flowed into a sheer lacy skirt which showed off her legs. 

One interesting fashion choice that the A-lister made was wrapping herself in a grey knit cropped sweater. 

Opting for bleach blonde hair, Kim was seen being given a helping hand in behind-the-scenes snaps at the hotel. 

To round off her final Met Gala look, the Skims founder wowed in a Chrome Hearts black snakeskin corset with matching skintight skirt, flashing her ample cleavage.

Kim's form-fitting cowgirl chic look also put her pert derriere on display and the star paired the look with a matching low-slung hat.

The skirt had a pearl accent along one hip and she also added a number of diamond necklaces, and a Boucheron diamond and white gold ring for even more sparkle.

This ensemble seemed to be a favourite of Kim's as she shared three snaps getting ready for the night. 

Ahead of her 13th year attending the Met Gala, which always falls on the first Monday in May, Kim reflected with the gallery of throwback snaps.

She wrote: 'Year 13 loading…' 

On Monday, the Met Gala 2026 will see a sea of A-listers walk the famous red carpet dressing to the theme, Costume Art. 

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez will serve as honorary co-chairs at the Met Gala due to dropping an eye-watering sum.

They allegedly paid $10 million for the privilege to hobnob with former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Her other co-chairs include Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams.

Sources told the outlet the move put them in favor with Wintour, 76, who uses the event to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute.

The 2026 Costume Art-themed gala has the couple's names on the invites.

The dress code calls on the celebrity attendees to explore how designers use the human body as a blank canvas.
