Any one have any experience of them?
I have a Tubular space frame body on a 30's car and was thinking of having a go at covering it?

It was usually a fabric called Rexine then dosed with nitrocellulose, all nice and flammable.

Trabant owners club may have some ideas.

They are rags and resin heavy thick and I believe very tough to damage

Look up "The Waymann system"
It Is a bit like re covering a sofa either in a faux leather or light fabrics (Aircraft) over a wood frame sometimes with a fine-ish mesh underneath
Definitely a acquired skill, had a go once Austin 7 it was a job we never repeated :vsad: Easier and less fuss to let someone who does it on a regular basis do it.
Our "Wallace" could make wings and body parts in alloy or steel, one go told us not our finest hour
First the wood frame like a Morgan only more wood then the Rexine / leatherette other materials were used
As someone said know your limits

Fiberglass and carbon fiber are fabric based....
Anyways wondered about using cotton cloth or nylon added to metallic net to make custom panels many times

the robin reliants had fibreglass bodies light and thin whilst being strong also less expensive

I'm assuming the fabric body coverings were 'doped' with something to tighten them, like the balsa and tissue paper aircraft models we used to make.
V interesting idea for a car

It is one of those things that really speaks volumes. How many people refer to a Transit Ford, or a Corsa Vauxhall?

I do understand, but Robin Reliant does seem roll off the tongue easier, but I've never heard anyone refer to a Morgan 3-wheeler as a plug...... :dontknow:

It doesn't sound better, it is not descriptive as no such vehicle exists. It also acts like a baseball cap worn backwards, marking you out as an idiot, regardless of the facts. I know that you are better than that.
