Personal care product packaging and cosmetics made with plastics and other polymers can negatively impact human health and the environment, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.Plastic production involves more than 16,000 chemicals that help give it its flexibility, ultraviolet stability and durability, most of which are unregulated, Sarah Dunlop, PhD, director of plastics and human health at the Minderoo Foundation, and colleagues wrote in the study background.
