you have to options, the one which  wrote, set the behavior to split beams, weld with together (with dummy welding) and then rename the maintpartnumber for example to "my truss".
The second option is, to let the behavior to "1 beam" set a name and use 2 list: material + compound list, but the problem is in this case is: the single beams will not get a number =(
