Filmmaker Nagraj Manjule is back with his third Marathi feature, Khashaba, after Fandry and Sairat. The teaser of Khashaba was unveiled by the makers on July 2, 2026.
The film is based on the life of independent India’s first Olympic medal winner, Khashaba Jadhav. He won a bronze medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki in freestyle wrestling. The teaser opens with visuals of a man whirling a rope around as the music by Ajay-Atul slowly catches on to the intensity. There are glimpses of pre-independent India with some British officials along with visuals of local people from the time. The teaser doesn’t reveal the actor playing the central role but just teases a hard-hitting biopic with an ensemble of actors including Nagraj, Jitendra Joshi, Chhaya Kadam and Om Bhutkar among others.

Khashaba is produced by Jyoti Deshpande (JioStudios), Gargee Kulkarni and Nagraj Manjule (Aatpat Productions). It is written by Nagraj Manjule and Gargee Kulkarni and has been shot by Harshvardhan Waghdhare with Kutub Inamdar serving as the editor. The film will be released in theatres on January 1, 2027.

Nagraj is known for his politically conscious films that blend poetry with social realities. His Hindi directorial debut was Jhund, starring Amitabh Bachchan, which was also inspired by a true story of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer.
Earlier this year, Nagraj forayed into web-series with Matka King, starring Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Gulshan Grover, Sai Tamhankar and Siddharth Jadhav in pivotal roles.
